In December 2025, StreamWorks (part of solo16) was honoured to partner with English Heritage to broadcast the annual Winter Solstice at Stonehenge. Following the success of our previous Summer Solstice live streams, which collectively reached over 400,000, we were proud to bring this ancient celebration to audiences around the globe once again.

Capturing the Event with Professional Precision
To ensure the Winter Solstice was presented in the highest quality, StreamWorks deployed a six-camera setup, covering the event from multiple angles while remaining unobtrusive. Every camera placement and equipment choice was made with care to respect the sacred nature of the site and the experience of attendees.
Advanced Wireless Technology
Utilising cutting-edge wireless video transmission, we were able to deliver high-quality, low-latency video across the site without laying intrusive cables. This approach was essential for a historic location like Stonehenge, allowing multiple cameras to operate efficiently and cost-effectively.

Stunning Aerial Footage
A licensed drone operator provided live aerial shots, giving viewers a breathtaking perspective of the stones and surrounding landscape. Operating near Stonehenge required careful planning and permissions due to restricted MOD and controlled airspace, coordinated with Wiltshire Police and the Ministry of Defence.

Reliable Connectivity
Streaming from a remote historic site presents unique connectivity challenges. StreamWorks combined multiple Starlink satellite dishes with client-provided connections to ensure a stable, uninterrupted live broadcast.
Professional Outside Broadcast Control
All feeds were routed to a fully equipped outside broadcast (OB) trailer, featuring vision mixing, live graphics, and professional audio management. Partnering with industry experts Graham Essenhigh and George, StreamWorks ensured a seamless, broadcast-quality experience, transmitted via LiveU technology.
A Trusted Broadcast Partner
Lisa Crowther, Senior Social Media Manager at English Heritage, praised the collaboration:
'In past years, we handled the live streaming of this event on our own, however, this year we decided to hire in a specialist team and StreamWorks we’re an ideal broadcast partner. Their impressive broadcast portfolio and professional approach instilled confidence in us from the beginning, and after collaborating with them for our 2025 Summer Solstice, we were pleased to invite them back for the Winter Solstice and I’m delighted with the end result.' -
The Winter Solstice sunrise broadcast was streamed on English Heritage’s YouTube and Facebook channels, reaching 300,000 by late December 2025.

We also created a highlights reel which can be watched here.
